Black Adam grossed $67 million at the North American box office alone. That's in line with the original forecast of $65 to $70 million, but it's a success. Because Warner recently lowered expectations to $ 60 million, pessimists feared an even worse start due to the numerous negative reviews, which would have jeopardized existing sequel plans. But the fans were not deterred by the negative voices and went to the cinemas.

The start of "Black Adam" is roughly on par with DC's "Aquaman" ($67.8 million) and well above "Shazam!" ($53.9 million). It is also higher than other films such as "Hobbs & Shaw" ($60 million) or "San Andreas" ($54.5 million), which are mainly supported by the star power of Dwayne Johnson. Warner and DC should ignore the fact that they are well behind the stars of Marvel. You can't currently get the films of the competitor at the box office, so there were probably no expectations in this regard.

Behind "Joker" (96.2 million dollars), "Venom 2" (90), "Venom" (80.2), and "Halloween" (76.2), "Black Adam" even managed the fifth-best start of a film per month in October in North America.

Internationally, however, things are a little more subdued - this is also the case in Germany. Almost 300,000 cinema tickets sold (including previews) are definitely not the figures for a big blockbuster, but they are easy enough for the top position in the charts. Overall, that's a decent number.

Even if there is still a lot of room for improvement at the box office overall, we assume that "Black Adam 2" will be launched. Producer Hiram Garcia, also a business partner of Dwayne Johnson, has already promised that the sequel will be tackled "very quickly". There shouldn't be a long wait.

Then one should also hope for an audience boost through the participation of another star: Because Henry Cavill is supposed to play a bigger role as Superman in "Black Adam 2". That's still a bit up in the air because there's still no contract between Warner and the "The Witcher" star for further engagements as Man Of Steel. Such a contract has yet to be negotiated. Because there is a willingness on all sides to reach an agreement, Johnson is very committed to it, and his manager and ex-wife Dany Garcia is also representing Cavill, the chances of it failing are very slim.
