Glass Onion is the title of the sequel to Knives Out, that's when it will be released on Netflix
Rian Johnson today posted on Twitter a long post dedicated to her inspiration for the Knives Out franchise - Dinner with Crime, of which Netflix has acquired the rights. In the post, she revealed the title and release date of the first of the two sequels, which will be called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story (glass onion).
From the video shared with the message, we learn that the film will be released during the holidays. There is talk of release on Netflix, and for the moment there is no mention of the possibility that Glass Onion will also go out to the cinema, perhaps with a window of some kind: it is legitimate speculation, given the rumors that have been circulating for a few weeks now on the hypothesis that Netflix starts distributing its films also in the hall respecting the windows.
Here is the message:
One thing I love about Agatha Christie is how she has never stalled creatively. I think there's a misunderstanding that her books use the same formula every time, but fans know full well it's the other way around.
It wasn't just a matter of settings or ways of killing: she was constantly working to push the genre beyond its limits, on a conceptual level. Under the umbrella of "whodunnit", you have written spy thrillers, proto-horror slasher, serial killer hunts, gothic novels, studies on the psychology of characters, and glamorous travel diaries.
When I did Dinner with Murder, what excited me most about the prospect of making more mystery films with Daniel as Benoit Blanc was emulating Christie and making each film feel like a new book, with its own tone, its own. ambition, its reason for existing, and… (ta-dah) its title.
The next Benoit Blanc case, the sequel to Cena con Delitto, will be titled, Glass Onion.
This, for now, is the plot of the film:
In the sequel to KNIVES OUT, Detective Benoît Blanc travels to Greece to solve a mystery with a new cast of extravagant suspects.
In the cast of Glass Onion, Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, and Leslie Odom Jr.
