Whenever Puneeth Rajkumar is on screen in 'James', the audience gets excited. Shivrajkumar's voice for him is hardly compatible. Appu in the fight scenes. Sparkling through dance steps. The pain of not seeing such a talented artist anymore is apt for the moment. It is evident that some scenes are used by DUP. It is true that the scenes of Appu's voice not being used by the duo have caught the mind of the fans! In the soldier's getup, he matches that role as a soldier. Fans will be happy when Shivrajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar appear on the screen. Both of their minor roles have significance in the story.
'James' is a very simple and simply predictable twist of cinema. Director Chetan Kumar had the opportunity to narrate the story in such a new way even after choosing such a story. But, in that case, he is not a complete success. His intention to make magic out of the bundle of logic is evident. Chetan Kumar is also a hand in writing good dialogue. But here it is also a little dull. Most of the characters in the film appear in bare-boots, never know! Charan Raj is always on the lookout for new music. But it was a little let down on James. Charan makes occasional noise through the background music. Swamy has done a neat job in photography. The action scenes, including the chasing scene, have become very mass.
