The zombie of the director of 'Justice League' will star Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, and Garret Dillahunt.
Aside from his Justice League, which will eventually reach HBO Max in 2021, Zack Snyder will return to the horror genre, after Dawn of the Dead, with Army of the Dead. The zombie movie will see the light on Netflix next year and, with Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, and Garret Dillahunt at the helm will revolve around a group of mercenaries trying to carry out a robbery in Las Vegas when it is plagued by the undead. Does that sound good to you? Well, get ready because the streaming platform has announced that it will expand it with a prequel and an animated series.
Both the prequel and the Army of the Dead series will feature librettos by Shay Hatten, one of the film's writers and also responsible for titles such as John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, the future John Wick 4, and the female spin-off of Keanu Reeves' saga, Ballerina. "I'm incredibly excited by the opportunity to collaborate with Netflix again to expand the Army of the Dead universe with an international prequel and also exploring the visually dynamic world of animation," explained Zack Snyder in a statement.

Although there are not yet too many details available, we can tell you that the prequel will be directed by Matthias Schweigh-for, who in the first part plays a character named Ludwig Dieter. And then there's the animated spin-off, titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, which will depend on Justice League 'storyboard artist' and also DC Animated Universe veteran Jay Oliva. He will act as showrunner of fiction and will lead two of his episodes apart. Here, where Snyder will also direct at least two other chapters, we will be told the story of Scott Ward's origins, the role of Dave Bautista, and deepened into the initial fall of Las Vegas because of the zombie invasion. Both Bautista and other performers will lend their voices to the project.
Beyond Bautista, Purnell, De la Reguera, Dillahunt, and Schweigh-for, Army of the Dead also includes in its cast Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Nora Arnezeder, Samantha Win, and Theo Rossi, to name a few. Until we know more, watch the Justice League trailer offered at DC FanDome above.
