Is Adam Sandler going to Oscar for the first time? The first reviews for "Uncut Gems" literally overturned - and now there is the trailer to the Netflix thriller.
Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) is not only a New York diamond trader but also a great gambler. When he makes debts on loan sharks, where one would rather not be in the black, the misfortune takes its course: Instead of selling a valuable opal for a lot of money, Ratner lends it to baseball star Kevin Garnett (plays himself). Was that the beginning of the end?

With the first screenings - including at the Toronto Film Festival - "Uncut Gems" immediately made a point landing. Critics were enthusiastic about the atypical Sandler film, which, according to 36 reviews on the critical platform Rotten Tomatoes, stands at a remarkable 94 percent (as of 24 September 2019). Leading actor Sandler, commonly known for clown roles in controversial comedies, is even considered a potential Oscar nominee.
