Avengers offspring in "Hawkeye": "Transformers" star is to take over the central role in the MCu
"Bumblebee" star Hailee Steinfeld is to take on the role of Kate Bishop in the upcoming Marvel series "Hawkeye". The student and successor to Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton may become part of a new generation of Avengers from the MCU.
Young star Hailee Steinfeld made her highly acclaimed movie debut at just fourteen years old as a dedicated Mattie Ross in "True Grit" and promptly received an Oscar nomination. Since then, she has appeared in numerous films such as the "Pitch Perfect" franchise and "Transformers: Bumblebee" and is active as a singer in addition to her acting career.
As Variety reports, Steinfeld should now have been offered a role in the MCU. As the Marvel character Kate Bishop, the all-rounder could become one of the main characters in "Hawkeye", the "Avengers" spin-off series about Jeremy Renner's archer Clint Barton, whom he co-starred in five MCU films and now in the coming represents eight-part series.
WHO IS KATE BISHOP?
In Marvel Comics, Kate Bishop is the disciple of Clint Barton and the first female successor to take the coat of Alter Ego Hawkeye. Because similar to Thor, who is not always a man and in the upcoming "Thor 4" by Natalie Portman is played as Jane Foster, Hawkeye is also used in the comic templates as an alias for both men and women - not uncommon among superheroes.
Bishop is a talented archer who does not need superpowers to fight like her role model. She is also part of the Young Avengers, a new generation of the famous superhero team, which after "Avengers 4: Endgame" could take the reins in the MCU. This is a good opportunity for Steinfeld to establish himself in the MCU in the long run through the role in the series and possibly later to play in one of the movies.
Before Steinfeld had already come up with the rumor that "dead girls do not lie" star Katherine Langford as Bishop in the fourth "Avengers" movie or the future "Hawkeye" series would be seen. Also, it was long rumored that Barton's daughter Lila, as indicated in "Avengers 4", is the one who steps in his arrow-and-bow footsteps. Hailee Steinfeld's potential casting as Kate Bishop speaks clearly against these two rumors.
Most recently, "Mad Men" writer Jonathan Igla had joined the "Hawkeye" team as a scriptwriter and producer. "Hawkeye" is among others "Falcon And The Winter Soldier", "WandaVision" and "Loki" one of many announced Marvel series for Disney's own streaming service Disney +.
"Hawkeye" is produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige and is scheduled to start in the fall of 2021. Hailee Steinfeld, however, is first seen in another high-profile series role. As a rebellious poetess Emily Dickinson, from the fall of 2019 onwards she plays in the "Dickinson" series on Apple TV +, a teenage brat that sets itself apart from the social restrictions that women face Apply time, do not want to let it go down.
