Today's moviegoers, especially in the post-Covid era, have become accustomed to watching the best SPY thriller movies and series available on digital platforms. These thrillers range from serious action thrillers to action comedies, which are captivating the audience with gripping stories and suspenseful scenes. In such a context, any filmmaker who wants to make a SPY action movie needs to give full attention to the writing and deliver a compelling story.

However, filmmakers who have tried the SPY genre in the Telugu film industry over the past few years have been failing miserably in this regard. Films like Akhil starrer 'Agent', Nikhil 'Spy' and now Sidhu Jonnalagadda starrer 'Jack' have disappointed the audience with flaws in writing and mistakes in execution. The film ‘Jack’ also joins this list, and director Bhaskar’s lack of imagination and innovation in writing was clearly visible.

The film ‘Jack’ exposed director Bhaskar’s creative limitations from the very first scene. Although he tried to combine different emotions like action, comedy, romance, patriotism, maternal sentiment, thriller, none of them worked effectively. As a result, the RAW agents in the film looked like ordinary police constables and they lacked clarity about the work they were doing, resulting in humorous scenes on screen.

The protagonist of the film, Jack, despite being an amateur, finds out the villain’s plans before the senior RAW agents with his intelligence. The entire screenplay is filled with craziness and makes the audience laugh. The main drawback of this film, which claims to be a thriller, is that it is actually boring.

The romantic thread in the film was equally dull. The scenes between Sidhu Jonnalagadda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya were uninspired, and the chemistry between them was completely lacking. Especially the dialogues in the romantic track in the second half seemed to be written by Sidhu himself, which seemed to be taken directly from the movie ‘Tillu’ and did not show any innovation.

Overall, ‘Jack’ was a disappointment from director Bhaskar in every way. The lack of clarity and imagination in the writing of the script was the main reason for the failure of the film. Although Sidhu Jonnalagadda brought in some laughs with his performance, the lack of proper support from the direction and technical departments was a big blow to the film.

This film turned out to be another failed attempt in the Telugu SPY thriller genre. ‘Jack’ completely failed to deliver the gripping story and suspenseful experience that today’s audience expects. In the future, filmmakers who make films in this genre need to focus more on writing and try to meet the audience's expectations.
