The second installment in the James Cameron-directed saga, starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, opens on December 17.
Filming for Avatar has resumed in New Zealand, and the sequel to the James Cameron-directed saga continues to plan to hit theaters in December 2021. Shortly after celebrating that work has returned to normal in the set, franchise producer Jon Landau has shared an image from the production. In it, we can see how underwater scenes roll.

"Photographer Mark Fellman took this photo last year of Britain Dalton during her underwater performance in the sequels to Avatar," Landau writes in the message accompanying the image. As you can see, the actor is wearing the 'motion capture' suit and it seems that he is riding some aquatic animal that we will meet in future installments of the saga. Britain Dalton is one of the new franchise signings. As the producer points out, the photography is from last year and, since they are recording the four installments simultaneously, the captured moment could belong to any of them.

Recently, Landau himself shared some details about the plots of the films that will arrive in theaters soon. "Jake and Neytiri have family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they explore the different regions of Pandora, they even spend time in the water, next to the water, in the water," he explained.
The release date for Avatar 2 is December 17, 2021. Avatar 3 will hit theaters on December 22, 2023. Avatar 4 on December 19, 2025. And finally, Avatar 5 will on 17 December 2027. Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington will bring the protagonist Freja to life. Other cast names include Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, and Oona Chaplin.
