We do not see many in the first mini teaser for "Uncut Gems" by Adam Sandler, but our anticipation of the long trailer in a few days and the whole movie 2020 on Netflix is fueled.
At the Toronto Film Festival, critics and viewers were excited about "Uncut Gems," the new film by Josh and Benny Safdie ("Good Time"). The review reviews on Metacritic and Rottentomatoes have so far found almost only outstandingly positive reviews. On Metacritic, there are only positive reviews with a very strong average score of 88 (out of 100) points, with Rottentomatoes 94% of the 34 previous reviews are positive.
Especially comedy star Adam Sandler is celebrated in an unusually dramatic-hard role and already acted as a possible Oscar candidate - even if you have to note realistically that the film itself could be too special to a sufficiently large mass of Oscar To reach voters (that was already Robert Pattinson in "Good Time" to doom).
THAT'S WHY IN "UNCUT GEMS"
At the center of the thriller is the charismatic New York diamond dealer Howard Ratner (Sandler), who is always looking for the next big business. But he is also a gambler, has gambling debts and stands with some hard loan sharks in the chalk. If he lends a valuable opal that could solve his problems to basketball star Kevin Garnett (playing himself) rather than scoffing at him dearly, this could have been the last dumb mistake in a slew of stupid mistakes that finally destroyed his life.
IN GERMANY ON NETFLIX
Unfortunately, there is still no German date for "Uncut Gems", which will be released in the US for the Oscar season in December in the cinemas. Netflix already has the rights for Germany anyway, so we probably will not see Sandler's possible glittering performance on the big screen in this country, but probably on the home screen in the year 2020. First of all, we should look forward to the right trailer, which will be released on September 24th.
